The cow got "milk fever" and also something else [I can't remember what] and got "down" [literally] well dad called the dairyman and they came out immediately [8:00] and gave her a iv of calcium and potassium [ we lost one of our previous cows to the same thing]she was up in no time and is doing fine.

we thank the Lord for their generosity in giving up their Friday and giving us much needed assistance and instructions , with out which the operation would have doubtless stalled. -m-

An update of sorts

Alas, our camera is out of action so we have no pictures of recent events so I'll have to resort to text.
First, a birth announcement; our cow [whom we named Beth] has had her calf.
The Lord has blessed us with a heifer! At last! Dad named the calf sally.
the cow is giving about 8 quarts a day and now we can finally have unlimited milk and fresh butter, cream and buttermilk again!
we are looking forward to this weekend, when many of our friends and brethren will bless our house with their presence for a scheduled barn raising.
