Annie Oakley

Quite the steady lady and a crack shot, Dorothy defended the homestead by ridding the area of a snake that Flint had cornered in our garden. Samuel, alert and ready, heard the ruckus in the vegetables ( Flint barking for all he was worth) and ran out with a 410. The dog would not let the children near the snake , though, and blocked Samuel from getting a shot. But between the efforts of Dorothy and Samuel and the excited crys of Mom, Adeline, Martha and the little brothers, we distracted Flint with a reward of meat long enough for Dorothy to make quick work of the snake. (Now, is that clear, Mr. Tim?)

Thanks for the clarification. I was sure that Dorothy could have done it because I've seen her shoot. But I also figured that any Morton dog would know a lot about guns too!

Keep up the good work. We enjoy the Morton news and your momma's periodic reflections.
