Badlands Drop Off

A few years ago, Wesley and I had the joy of accompanying the Marc D. family to South Dakota where we helped to dig up dinosaur bones~we had a trip of a lifetime, and made a fun video while we were touring the beautiful badlands! I re-discovered it in our files the other day, and it gave me such a laugh I thought I'd share it with you.

There being no sound, can anybody come up with a funny script? Have fun, and leave us your thoughts!!

Enjoy!!!

Of Woods and Creeks

I do think that there a few things more delightful then a hot summer afternoon in the woods with your siblings!! What wonderful memories I have of when the "four older kids" would take all of us "younger ones" down to the creek and play together in the water 'till we heard Mama clanging the big bell up at the house, which meant we had about 45 minutes before supper...the green grass would be up to your knees as you walked up to the house, and by the time you got there, the soft pasture grass would almost have you dried off...Praise God for such precious older siblings...I hope and pray I can help to give the kids down the line as many wonderful memories as the kids up the line gave to me!
God is good! A tree house "the big kids" build several years ago...there is such a feeling of mystery when you come upon an old fort that was built when you were 'little"... ;) Joy!!! Wild flowers that remind me of a mix betwixt cotton and okra.... Such a lovely flower! 1!!! 2!!!!3!!!A fallen tree limb...Playing categories...Height...A view through the leaves... The hurricane's proof of presence...Trying to slip past the guards... Brown Hat (the most creative caption ever, eh? :D )

Mossy roots...

Well, bye for now!!

Today's Happenings

Hallooo, All!!!

Here's a little look at what we're doing today at our house! {Can't believe we're actually posting stuff on the same day it happened!! :D Getting better all the time.}

Anyway, our dear Cleveland and Andrew darling are off for a whole week at the Challenge Course, this time taking place at Fort Benning!! Wow-that is so cool. It's allot like Christian basic training, Challenge is. What a blessing it is that they were able to go! The Lord is very gracious. We actually remembered yesterday that it was coming up, checked their site, and realized it started the next day!! I told you we are last minute people, and, in keeping with tradition, they stuffed their gear into their bags in a jiffy this morning and started out at 11:00 am!! We sure are going to miss them. allot. *sigh* But, I know they'll have a blast, so it's not too bad. We're already looking forward to their return.

Mums and Pops dearest were running errands this morning, and went out to lunch together-They're so cute...It's such a blessing to have parents who just adore each other's company!!!

Dee-Dee and I moved our sewing room from the upstairs to the attic~It's such a charming little place up there! Attics always are, I suppose. We put the sewing machine by the windows, so you can watch the clouds go by as you sew...Ahh... (Well, you might not want to do the two simultaneously, but you know what I mean, LOL. :D) We also moved all my beloved millinery ribbons and tid-bits, {which I happily found while moving everything out, under some unorganized mound!!!! I was wondering where all that had gone to} and all the hats up to the attic as well. All the little boys were darlings, and toted most everything up and down at our relentless bidding~what good fellows!! Now it's a regular nest up there, cozy, organized and waiting for yours truly and etc to go start on a sewing project or two!! Ha, how exciting. I do love a new project...

Today is Martha's first day on the "everything" chore, and she's doing an amazing job!! She's just great!! Lunch was soo good...Oh, by the way, the "everything job" is where one girl {we take two week shifts} does everything~cooking, cleaning, laundry and house, etc., to try to learn how to juggle all the wonderful aspects of homemaking. Preparation for when, Lord willing, we all marry someday and really have to run your home single handedly. That is until your chillins get old enough to lend a hand. :) I really enjoyed my two weeks, but the house stayed dusty, pantry a mess and the fridges were turned into um, science projects, so I'm gonna give it another whirl in a few weeks. Meantime, the other two girls get to sew, study, garden, and do other projects that they might not have had as much time to do before. It's a really neat set up, and we all like it allot!! Mums dearest is brilliant. What a wonderful mother!!!!

Well, me thinks that's all for today~bless you for reading my ramblings! Hope you all have a very blessed day.

Love in Jesus,

Adeline, for the Clan
The two 'twavalers'

Our Daily Bread

Bread....Warm, soft, comforting...the smell wafting from the old kitchen brings a thousand different memories to a thousand different minds, the yeasty goodness taking you back to the time of family communion around your table, sharing the food of your father's labor together in a joyful supper.
Bread is a gift from the Lord that we sometimes over look because it is such a daily, normal thing. We often eat it in a hurry, rarely taking the time to ponder and realize what a gift this "staff of life" is. When you eat next, take a moment to thank Jesus, from your heart, realizing what He's given you, for the food you're about to eat, and for giving you this day, your daily bread.

Take a moment to read this beautiful poem below by Mrs. Grace N. Crowell~It will inspire you to knead for His glory and pleasure, and to thank Him for His goodness.
An ancient rite, as old as life is old:
A woman baking bread above a flame.
It's value is far greater than pure gold,
It is ageless, timeless, and the simple name
Of bread is wholesome as the summer sun
That has lit and warmed the fields that men might eat;
It is as clean as are the winds that run
Their light -foot way across the waving wheat,

A loaf is only half a loaf unless,
We share it, and unless we say
Our grace above it, asking God to bless
The bread that He had given day by day.
O woman, handle flour as you should!
It is a thing God-given, priceless, good.

-Grace Noll Crowell

La Lèvre

I love it!! 'The Lip' is my favorite baby expression!! Here's our Doughy Joey doing a darling one...aww. It just makes you want to cuddle their little helpless, precious selves. What a joy babies are!! Eyes full of wonder...

Another favorite baby look~Le Sourire!! {The Smile}

Babies are wonderful!!! They are God's gift!!

Our Newest Find

Introducing the world's best/funnest learning/brain exercise game, the well known Boggle!! Such has been the game craze around here of late. The longest word having been found, as of yet, being "STETSON", the game has used many a delightful lunch break, and sharpened up our 'little word' spelling brains a bit! Now that we've made our game recommendation of the decade, here's your chance to find five words in the below puzzle. Two of them are four letter words, then two threes, and one two letter. Happy Hunting.

The Marriage of Hosea and Janna

What an honor, blessing and privilege to be witnesses at the marriage of our dear friends Hosea Horneman and Janna Folkert. We are so happy for them both, and pray that God will bless them richly in the coming years as they continue to serve Him!!

We left Georgia on Thursday, enjoying a walk on the beach that afternoon before heading to our hotel room and settling in. {We also enjoyed the lovely Columbia restaurant in downtown Sarasota~Ah! Wonderful food!!} Friday, we enjoyed resting in our room part of the day and then the beautiful rehearsal dinner that night. Saturday we toured a museum and enjoyed the grounds of a beautiful mansion type thing that was open for viewers~It was gorgeous!! Then at 2:00 we headed off for the wedding ceremony with much excitement!! A lady with an amazing voice singing a beautiful song that Hosea edited and wanted sung at his wedding.
.All the lovely bridesmaids...There she is!!!Saying the vows...Before their kiss.....And after!
And now, Mr. and Mrs. Hosea Horneman!!
