An update from Mom

Drum roll, please.................This weekend marks the 75th birthday of the dear Grandfather of the Morton Clan, Jerry Cox. We are all gathering Saturday to mark the occaision, with much food and the planting of a rose garden for GrandMom.

Now, you may well ask, why a rose garden for the Grandmother when it is the Grandfather's birthday? Well, she has always wanted a rose garden and we just decided that this was a good time to do a rose garden. :)

What a joy and blessing they are. There is nothing more wonderful than knowing that Grandfather and Grandmother are praying for you as you toil in the field of parenthood, that field that they know so well. What a blessing to surround them with the fruit of their sowing , many grandchildren who love God and bless their elders.

Children and grandchildren will gather in Moultrie to celebrate and wield shovels , to plant roses and share family stories and songs and to bless Granddaddy on his birthday.

They have been excitedly preparing for the weekend, sprucing up this and that. Mom has recently been released from treatment for bone marrow cancer, as she was released in 1994, and God has a wonderful purpose for Mom's life, and Granddaddy and all of us are very grateful to the Lord for His mercy and healing and our years together.

So now you know why we are planting a rose garden for Grandmom when it is Granddad's birthday.

An Update! ;)

Hello, Everybody!!!
Well, here I am at the Davis home in North Georgia!!! John and I are having such a delightful time, and have been so blessed by being with this precious family. In the past few weeks they were in a car accident~ the Lord was so gracious, and they have been blessed with God's healing.
The children and me have been having so much fun having picnics and hiking on the trail that is near thier home, and playing that we're fighting/fleeing from the British/Indians/Yankees/bears and other desperate characters that roam the woods!!! ;) Right now, little miss Davis and me are looking out the window watching John and the other boys build a grand fort with two rooms!! They are so sweet. Humm....speaking of it, I think I want to go take a look! :)
Hope that ya'll have a blessed day! May our wonderful Savior bless and keep each of you in His mighty hands.
Love in our Lord,
Adeline and Little Miss Davis ;)
P.S. To dear Jordin H.~I am so sorry that I did not get to say bye to you on Sunday~I hope your traveling goes well! I'll be praying for you. I look forward to seeing you soon! Much love, A.G.M.

Flash News from Calathora

Master Edwin, the 5 year-old buddy-boy here at Calathora, has been quite sick since last Monday. Various symptoms have been off again, on again and we were becoming concerned that he might be getting dehydrated. We conferred with knowledgable friends and finally called our excellent doc and we all agreed to give it another day. We thought we might be quite possibly facing an overnight in the hospital for IV hydration.

Several of the men in our fellowship meet for breakfast on Wednesday mornings. About 7, I was sitting there, waiting till 8, to take Edwin to the doctor's office and the thought occurred to me that I should be actively hydrating him. (Yesterday, when we did that, the results were, well , shall we say , not effective. ) But, I went ahead and offered him some fresh apple juice - he drank it right down!!! then I continued to work with him ( we'll skip the details ) and praise be to God, he responded ! No doctor visit , no hospital, no IV!!! It seemed that the men were praying and The Lord had mercy on us. We have been shouting and praising the Lord all morning , here at Calathora.

I must away. :)

Good morning! Some quick news..... I'm still reaching you from the library. Our computer hasn't revived yet.
Our little lame calf, Cocoa Puff, has died. We don't know why and are in mourning. She was so adorable.

Baby Bret is doing well. I would like to thank everyone for their prayers for Alan and Katie during their delivery. Oh, the comments of ya'll saying 'We're praying' just brought tears to my eyes. God bless you and many thanks again from one grateful Grandmother and mother.

Bret gets the award for sweetest baby of the month. There was only one vote and I'm it!!!!!!!!! Call it Grandmama's privilege. :)

Our God reigns. Praise His name. Remember to sing today.

I know where you can get delicious pastured chicken. If you can reach me, I'll tell you where.

Did I tell you I have delightful parents? Well, let me tell you!! They are delightful. We are off to watch a movie with them this afternoon. Granddad said he'd make popcorn for all the grandchildren!! He is a great host!!

I'm reminding myself, so I'll remind you - be sweet to your husband. Greet him at the door with a smile and pay attention when he talks to you. Look right into his gorgeous blue eyes. (or brown :) ) It is such a blessing to have a family in the kingdom of God. Perfect you and me are not, but oh, isn't life grand?!!! Well, I'll scoot. Cleveland and Wesley, Dorothy, Adeline and Martha, Andrew ( who just had a birthday! Happy Birthday, bubba), Samuel, John , Edwin and Paul ( alias cutie) all send their hellos.

Good afternoon, dear friends. Our computer has gone up in the proverbial puff of smoke, so we are getting to experience the world without internet. Isn't it amazing how much tech can become a part of the daily routine? We miss being able to communicate via email and blog , so I'm at the library saying hello from the Mortonclan!!!!

We are enjoying our Southern winter. It is fairly warm by lunchtime and the boys end up playing at Mor-town and shooting imaginary bad guys. Samuel and I fixed the milk cow's water yesterday. He did a great job of lugging hoses and getting tools and tightening screws.

Paul is now officially on the big boy chore list. He empties trash cans in addition to his usual help in the dining room. Great job, Paul.

Edwin is evidently left-handed and yesterday the light came on about how to shape a capital E. He and I were so excited!!

John is quite the quick fellow - quick on the wink, the sly smile and the wide grin. He is a charmer and a great help around the ranch.

Oh, now when people say, 'How's that baby?!!!!' , it takes me a second to catch myself and remember that they are now talking about my GRANDbaby!!! And he is GRAND, I must say. Isn't he beautiful? I used to tell my children to get me a sweater that said,"Lean, mean spoiling machine". But now I need one that says, " It's okay. I'm just a new Grandmotherrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I guess you can tell I'm a little excited.

If you were a fly on the wall lately at Calathora, you would have seen a happy bunch of men. Dorothy , Adeline and Martha have been putting on some meals that the menfolks have been raving about. Fried chicken, roast and gravy, spaghetti and salad out of the garden - can't you smell the coffee? They even made fresh strawberry fried pies, just like Nettie B. used to make. M-m-m-m, smiles around that table, for sure. We are sewing up a storm, too. Sitting in front of the fire, stitching away, while the cups of tea steam on the side table. Ah , we love the winter here in South Georgia.

A dear friend is in labor, even as I type.

The older guys went to sweep off Granddad's roof the other morning, and Granddad called and had them over for breakfast!!!! He is one grandaddy in a million. We thank the Lord for Grandparents who love God and pray for us and encourage us to follow the Lord. God bless Granddaddy and GrandMom. I wish I had a picture. They are such a handsome couple.

We hope to attend the Vision Forum Father-Daughter Retreat in late March. See you there? It is loads of fun and a delightful weekend. My girls enjoy the preparation and anticipation, the sewing and the laughter, getting ready for the big weekend!!

Michael B. is doing a lot of reading and studying of various issues related to the Fellowship and some issues in the county government. He is a wonderful gift to us from our Heavenly Father - we cannot say enough about our gratitude to the Lord for him as our father and husband. We love you, Michael B.

Well, I will say adieu. Adieu. :) Jeanine, the Mom and GRANDmom

A much beloved mother and child.

The clan in it's entirety with Alan, Katie and baby Bret!

It's a BOY!!!!!!!!!!

About 10 minutes ago, one of God's most awing miracle happened!! He has blessed us with one of the most beautiful things in the world~ a 8 pound 11 ounces baby boy, with a huge head of blonde hair!!! When he came out, he could not breath for a full 5 minutes~We all cried out to the Lord, and were praying in the Spirit, and God was gracious and merciful, and with the quick and wise actions of a God~send of a midwife, he began breathing and getting his color back!!!! The Lord is so wonderful!!! Mommy is doing splendid, and is at this very minute feeding Little bit! Praise the Lord!!!!!
